Engine, Transmission, and Performance
The 511cc four-stroke engine has a six-speed transmission with a wide range of gear ratios.
The machine is based on the FC 450 motocrosser but has a longer stroke to increase its displacement. With a compression ratio of 12.75:1, the FE 501 has ready power.
However, compare to the 450 motocrossers, “the powerband signs off much lower in the rpm range,” which we discussed in our bike review.
This is likely because the FE 501 has a longer stroke, and its engine was change to meet EPA requirements.
On our in-house dyno, the FE 501 makes 44.5 horsepower at 8,400 pm and 31.6 pound-feet of torque at 6,900 rpm.
This makes it the most powerful enduro motorcycle that Husqvarna makes.
