Reginald Walter Maudslay created the Standard Motor Company in Coventry in 1903. It made Vanguard-powered Ferguson TE20 tractors for years.

Massey Ferguson bought all of Standard’s tractor assets in 1959. Standard bought Triumph in 1945 and changed its name to Standard-Triumph International in 1959, branding all its models Triumph. Britain stopped using Standard in 1963 and India in 1988. The Standard Motor Company Limited became the group’s new manufacturer.
