John Deere 120 Excavator Review
John Deere 120 Problems and Solutions
Engine performance problem
The majority of excavators are liquid-cooled. A radiator and a fan are required to cool the engine. To cool the engine, the fan must pull cool air through a radiator.
An electric motor controls the cooling fan. The engine can overheat and stop working if one of these components fails.
You may have the fan motor stuck on or off. Both can cause coolant loss and engine overheating. Caterpillar machines use a thermistor to control when the fan turns on or off.
Relay controls cooling fan motor excitation voltage. If either fails, your machine may overheat.
Engine runs rough or low power
A faulty fuel injection pump can cause the john deere 120 excavator to run rough or have low power. It is necessary to remove the pump and rebuild it.
Some pumps have a pin stuck in the rack housing. The pin can be easily removed so that the pump functions properly.
Another possible cause is the governor. The idle cam of the governor can wear, which can cause the engine to run rough at idle.
Worn parts make injection timing harder. Engine performance will suffer. Replace this ASAP.
Hydraulic System problems
After a long period of service, seals and O rings on parts can wear and leak oil or hydraulic fluid. This could lead to reduced working pressure and even failure. The accumulator pressure has dropped to a low level.
The gas could be released, damaged, or evaporated from long-term usage. First, check if the accumulator seal is damaged and if there is oil leakage at the joint of the cylinder head. If none of the above is present, it’s time to replace it with an oil-gas separator.
