Ford 8N Tractor For Sale, Price, Specs, Overview, Images, Features
The Ford N-Series tractors are a series of farm tractors that were manufactured by Ford between 1939 and 1952, spanning the Ford 8N, Ford 9N, and Ford 2N, models.
The Ford 8N Tractor debuted in July 1947. It was a largely new machine starring more power and improved transmission. It is declared to be the most popular farm tractor of all time in North America.
The Ford 8N Tractor was designed with a 4-speed transmission, this model was designed to become the top-selling single tractor of all time in North America.
The most obvious differences between the 8N and its ancestors were the inclusion of a 4-speed transmission instead of a 3-speed in the 9N and 2N, and an increase in both PTO(Power Take-Off) and drawbar horsepower.
The Ford 8N was designed with running boards and was painted lighter gray sheet metaleetmetal and red on the body.
Ford 8N was the first tractor to provide a clutch on the left side and independent brakes on the right. The wide-spaced front wheel design of the 2N and 9N was held.
In 1950 the Ford 8N tractor design changed to feature a side-mounted distributor, as well a Proofmeter (combined tachometer, hour meter, speedometer,) located on the lower right portion of the dash.
Its main features such as 4 cylinders ‘L’ head engine, a Maximum drawbar of 23.16hp on 2nd gear, 3.188in the cylinder bore, 3.75in stroke, constant mesh transmission, and much more information see below the specification table.
